Halfzware from Authentic Luxury by Authentic Luxury
I wrote Halfzware in 2010 and the title is taken from the cut of the Drum cigarette tobacco I loved back when I was an avid smoker. It’s Dutch for “half heavy”. I’ve done this tune in a ton of different formats from a trio to a seventeen piece big band arrangement. It’s as close as I can get to exotica. For Cantrip it became a suite: the original song, a free solo section, and a blues that devolves and dissolves. If you listen closely you can hear me playing piano in 1989.
