Motherboard by Kat7

Motherboard is the 8 track debut album of Kat7 (aka Exile Di Brave and Gavsborg), a bountiful body of work that has been long in the making.

The pair, now based in Germany, have been recording this project across various locations in New Zealand, Germany, Jamaica and Switzerland. Supported by Swiss-Congolese Reggae/Soul Singer, Irina Mossi, Equiknoxx member, Reggae/Soul Singer Shanique Marie as well as Indonesian-German Multi-Instrumentalist & Reggae/Soul Singer, Tóke.

While all tunes on the release are rooted in Jamaican sound as a foundation the pair effortlessly glide through genres with ease and dexterity. Think spacey dubwise bass weight (Funk Schön), rudeboy steppers set to mash up the dance (Rubabdub Skank, Fresh), leftfield explorations (Trinken Saft, Jamaica is the Mother), deep, percussive, groovers (Chuck Harn, Kat Haus Weissensee) as well as a brooding, poignant number (Silence).

This myriad of sounds is a true representation of what the daily listening of both artists are like with Exile feeling at ease throughout, backed by Gavsborg flexing all facets of his production prowess as well as getting busy on the mic!
